Been busy last week with several "gigs". Mostly favors for friends playing and recording. Next week will be a busy one as well with rehearsal, gigs and a visit from my grandmother. A friend of mine introduced me to them yesterday an excellent song!! :

A sunny day...and nothing to drink!

Since i took a break from my studies as a music teacher i spend most of my time sleeping and sleeping.. Since i work mostly at nights there is really no need to get up early even though there is a slight guilt of sleeping to late in the morning..but sometime you have to sleep to stay awake ;) ..Otherwise i went out with a friend and had a sandwich with nothing to drink(!) I did not see that as a big deal but apparently the waitresses did as two of them asked me if i did not want anything to drink... Otherwise we discussed mostly how to achieve good sound when your are on stage, which is difficult if you don't have the same people running the sound system at all shows..we also discussed that when you have a relationship you spend to much time with that person and sometimes forget your friends (or band). Since i have never really had a proper relationship in my life i should not really comment on that issue..

And speaking about band issues..I love this clip that i recently discovered of a Queen soundcheck in 1977 with some bitter comments between the members eachother mohaha.. :)

Old Friends..

 

Th recording yesterday went smoothly. When you have the experience of being in and out of a recording studio for 12 years things usually doesn't take as long time as twelve years back. Today i'm going to rehearse for a gig with a friend i recently re-acquainted myself with. He was in the first band i played with (in upper secondary
school). It is sometimes strange but yet comfortable to play with people that you started out with 12 years later. Things just come full circle sometimes..

With a Child's Heart

Been kind of a slow day for me, mostly relating to work ( i work as a piano teacher among st other things related to music ) Going to the studio tomorrow to lay dawn some stuff on a track for the band. And try to do some reading on the Jonathan Franzen novel 'Freedom (only managed to read 20 pages..out of 600!)

I'm always pondering on things happening in the world and what makes people do the things they do? What happened from the point of being a child to becoming a murderer?..Some days i'm really not sure if i want to bring a child into this world...but then again it's my responsibility to raise him to love.

Laura Nyro-a tribute

I cant even begin to describe how much her music meant for me. Her influence on songwriting is amazing. Desmond Child, Joni Mitchell started writing/playing piano because of her, her influence on Todd Rundgren is also clearly evident as well many others. Her music and voice convey's every emotion i could ever feel in life She was recently inducted into the Rock'n'roll hall of fame here is fortunately a film clip from that induction with Bette Midler giving a emotional speech and Laura's son Giles accepting the award on her behalf. (their tributes actually made me shed a tear)

Picking any song of her's to recommend is very difficult, but if i had a gun against my head...
